Fuel Pump Question?

I just installed a new fuel pump on my 2000 Sierra. I drove it down the road to get gas , and when I got out of the truck, it smelled hot. Like wiring. Do these new fuel pumps smell hot until they're broken in? I felt around the pump and the wiring harnesses didn't feel hot. Thanks

I've put in a couple of fuel pumps in differant types of vehichles, and I never experienced anything like you are describing. Hope you figure it out.
