Battery Light Question

I have a 06 silverado z71 5.3ho with ~45k on it. Today out of nowhere the battery light came on and has stayed on. Im not sure what could be causing it and im wondering if anyone has any ideas i can check before i take it in on Monday. Every time i have ever had the batt light on its always coincided with an alternator failure but i dont think thats the case here form what i cna tell. The truck starts and drives normally and the voltage guage is reading a very normal 14v at all times , the headlights and dash lights all look normal too not dim. When the light popped i was over an hour away from home and the battery never died and i was driving at night witht the lights on. I would thnk if the alternator was gone it would have died on the ride home for sure. Everything seems normal with the excveption of the light.

Can anyone think of anythign i could check before i hit the dealer on monday and cought up $100 for my extended warranty?

Here is a web site that has the awnser they specialize in alternator computer problems for GM /Ford.They helped me run both alts in my 05 hummer GM has reduced charging to 13.8Volt for 2003 and up.Causing this to undercharge sometimes these guy have a low cost solution good luck missinglinkaudio.com check them out.
