OK, I have an 08 Sierra ext. cab and got a box with 2 12" kickers. The problem is the box is a piece of SH*! and I don't have time to get a new one from somewhere else. My ? is does anyone have any plans for a box to fit my truck. I'm even willing to with 1 kicker if I had to. Thanks in advance. P.S Don't ever get a box from HIFi sound and audio.

when you say the box is a pos, what exactly do you mean. is the problem you are experiencing cosmetic, poor craftmanship, or perhaps sound quality. it is difficult to reproduce low frequency response with a sub enclosure which lacks any depth. even if you were to obtain new plans you may not be pleased with the results. if the goal is improved low frequncy response, maybe you could tinker with amp+ speaker impedence combos. hope to hear more back on this.

It's the quality of the box. When I got it I wanted to see how it was so I took one sub out. Three screws never caught the wood, and you could see daylight though some of the jionts. Also the wiring terminals weren,t attached to the box. All in All areally bad job. I never got a chance to see how it sounds.

^^maybe you could just copy your existing enclosure. make the new one as DEEP as possible, just my .02

You read my mind, I'm in the process of trying to copy it but it is going to need some tweecking. They must not have read the spec sheet on the sub because it needs a minimun of 1.25 quibic ft. of air space for each sub in a sealed enclousre or 1.75 quibic ft. for ported. I might have to go with only 1 sub.

volume is very important to subwoofer performance, no doubt about that. but equally important is the configuration of the enclosure. ported enclosures vs sealed etc... you also mentioned a possible reduction in the number of drivers in your system. in my truck i actually moved the rear seat forward about 3" to allow for lower frequency response from my box. im not familiar with the 08 ext cab, nor the location of your box. if you are pleased with the performance of your box sound wise, keep both drivers. if you take one out, the impedance on your amp will be reduced and the sub will not perform as well.

o yeah, does the box contain any stuffing like material?

The thing is I never even had a chance to hook it up and see hoe it sounded, the box was practicaly falling apart. And no there was no polly fill in it either. I also just came in from taking some measurements and I just don't think the 12's are going to work. Now I have 2 Kicker c-12's that I got to unload brfore my wife will let me buy 2 10s.

i hear you about the 12s, it is difficult to properly enclose even 10 " subs inside a truck. i bet someone here has the knowledge to answer your question. i am going by the local audio store today for some parts for another vehicle, i will look and see what they have for a nbs truck. get back with you a little later.

thanks alot, I'll take all the help I can get. What do think about having them up fire?

Doug, i went by a couple of shops today. Most of the products they offer are run of the mill. That being said, these boxes will prob deliver the best performance, all around, for the typical install. If i was you, i would prob go with a clone of what you have now. 3/4 mdf being the #1 choice of bldg material. This material will offer the least amount of resonance which is the goal of any speaker enclosure. As for the upfire question, why not try it out? What have you got to lose? Sounds to me like you have the skills to get it done, a good percentage of the people employed by car audio stores are not concerned with quality craftsmanship as i'm sure you are aware. Good luck and let us know how this turns out,
