Buy Exhaust Or Cut Off Stock Muffler

I was looking into buying a Magnaflow XL Series 4" turbo back exhaust to put on my Dmax and I was talking to a couple of people and they said that its the same as cutting out the stock muffler and putting in a straight pipe or a flow through muffler. Would it make that much difference to put the magnaflow system on over just putting a flow through muffler on? Sound is not an issue, its the benefits to the engine I'm looking for.

Straight Pipe that thing from the turbo. Turbo will spool up quicker, lower egts, and increased mileage.

Nothing sounds WORSE than a diesel or a V-10 with a set of aftermarket exaust !

V-8 gassers are ok is some cases.

 

My fellow plow guys have nothing but problems with complaints from customers

about their window shaking exaust noise rigs at 4 am while plowing their

driveways....................

 

Spendy your money better and get a PCM tune!

MBRP makes the only good sounding exhaust for Diesels, If there was a runner up I would say it would be Banks, but MBRP sounds awesome.

I can agree with the noise for plowing early in the morning. I would leave it stock if that's what I did with my truck.

 

I use mine for towing and daily commute to work. I had the muffler cut out and replaced with stainless pipe, then a 4" stainless tip. The noise isn't bad at all in the cab until you get the rpms up. That is normally when you are going much above the speed limits.

 

I could get a sound clip, but it may be a tad different, being mine has no cat. converter.

Also, I feel good towing when I know my egt's will stay lower with a free flowing exhaust.

I'm not plowing with this truck. She's my daily driver and tow vehicle. I don't have a cat either, straight back from the turbo downpipe to the muffler. I still have the LB7 not the LLY. How much lower on the EGT's?

I don't have an EGT guage, so I don't know first hand. I have seen many other posts where people have one and straight pipe and they stay considerably lower. I can't remember the exact numbers.
