Psi For Bfg 285's?

Recommended Posts

Was running somewhere in the neighborhood of 40 PSI all around. Then bumped them up to 50 PSI and noticed on the rear tires only the center part of the tread was hitting the pavement. So aired back down to 45 PSI.

I know the stock HD rims are technically too narrow for 285's, but lots of guys run them.

What PSI you running?

I'm on my second set of 285 BFGs I run them on the stock aluminum wheels.

I run them at 42 lbs around town. When towing I air them up to 50 psi. I rotate front to back to extend the life of the tires.

i keep mine at 55. what you have to do is pick a firmness you like and monitor the wear. the wear if heavy in center means you need to decrease psi, but if heavier on sides increase. i rotate every other oil change and keep em at 55 towing or normal driving. the bfg have worn great and are the only tire i will put on my trucks.
