What Reverse Light Bulb Are You Using?

As it says Fella's. What brand p/n are you using?

Myself, I switched over to Hoppy 20101 Back-Up Alert 3156 Style. They state that they are only 20watt but I seem to think they're brighter than the standard 3156 27watt bulbs. I also choose them because I've almost hit 2 random people while backing out of my driveway in the morning. For some reason the sidewalk across the street must have retard repellent on it because they seem to think walking on the side of the road with no sidewalk is safer.

As I said, the light seems to be brighter than stock but I also tried some LED style bulbs that claimed they were 3x as bright as regular bulbs but I didn't see "it" against the stock bulb. Even with the brighter lighting I have it still seems not to be enough. I think part of it has to do with GM's design of the 03-06 tail light housing. It does not really seem to spread out but rather project straight back.

I am giving thought to trying the 50 watt that Hoppy has (20107 - 50 Watt Halogen Super Bright Back-Up Bulb 3156 style) but I'd feel safer using a 35 watt Halogen than the 50.

I picked up a pair of PIAA bulbs and they are far brighter than my stock bulbs ever were.

Check out this older post I started and there are a few examples in there of what some folks have used. The PIAAs again are far superior than anything I have tried but some guys have even brighter bulbs than mine and identify them in here.

This is what I put in my truck...Back Up Bulbs

They are like Headlights! They almost negate the tinting on the rear windows.

I wonder if those are the Hoppy. How is your housing and wiring? Any problems? How long have you had them?

**edit**

I read through your other post, yeah those are Hoppy.

Strange when I did a search on the topic your post did not come up. I don't believe I used "backup" as my key word.

Housing does not appear to be affected by different bulbs (but the backup lights do not stay on all that much. Wiring is stock but at 50w, these bulbs only pull 4amps or so and that can be done over 22 gauge wire and I am fairly certain that the stock wiring is heavier than that.

So far they have been for about a month I think.

I would not use them for taillights, side markers, things like that stay on for an extended period of time but for this application they seem fine.
