Climate Control '07 Nbs

So, I have the auto climate control. When I start the truck it's real hot inside from sitting in the sun at work. If the auto setpoint is at 72 all it does is blow the fan wide open but the ac won't come on unless I manualy push the ac button. According to the manual it should turn on the compressor automatically and control the climate according to my setpoint. Is mine broken?? How does the rest of your guys trucks work. I need to know before I call the dealer on this.

Thanks.

Well I'll chime in on this one. When I start mine after sitting in the parking lot the fan goes on high and on recirculation, but my ac light is on. I don't think I have ever had to push it to turn it on. My temp is set to 74 by the way. Do you have to turn on the ac everytime you start the truck?

Bob,

I am also from MN and I think I have your answer. In the summertime when it's hot out (we have not had that yet this year here in MN) the A/C will come on automatically when it's hot outside. But when it's in the 50's/60's outside and sunny enough to heat up the interior, it will only crank the fans on high but not turn on the A/C because it "knows" the outside air is plenty cool to cool the interior. These trucks are scary smart.

Mine can be in AUTO mode, but if I turn off the A/C button for any reason, it will stay off until turned back on or I hit AUTO again, otherwise, it comes on automatically each start (if it was on when I turned the truck off that is)

Yes, everytime

Is your "AUTO" button lit?

Yes the auto button is lit

I thought about this as well, but here in the southeast Mn we have had a couple of days where it was in the 70's and I would have thought that would of been warm enough for the AC but maybe not. :cold:

My A/C button remains lit down to around 32 degrees. This sounds squirrelly. Dealer time.

Or you could break out in dance and hope your increased body heat makes the air in the truck feel a little colder. Hammer time.

hey daddy, thought you were going to photoshop my truck so I could see how it would look with badges???

You mean without??? Sorry, must have forgotten! I'll get it done.

Your climate control system uses the A/C for drying the air too ya know. It will go off automatically after a few minutes when it's using it to dry the air when it's cold outside. There is nothing wrong with your system.

I think he's saying that his system is working and mine seems squirrely. I def. will be calling the dealer because I don't believe mine is working right. I tried to leave it yesterday without manully turing on the AC button just to see if eventually it would turn on the compressor and cool it down and all it did was blow the fan on high, even when I changed the setpoint to 60 deg.

All I can say is mine worked fine last summer. But mine is doing the same thing this spring in the cool weather. When I get in my truck when it's sunny, but cool (60's) outside and the interior is hot from the direct sun. The fans crank up to high automatically but the A/C does NOT turn on automatically. I would at least wait until we get a hot day and see what happens then. I am willing to bet you it will work just fine.

Ya it's supposed to be pretty warm here tomarrow, I'll see what it doed then. But if I changed the setpoint to 60 and the outside temp is 69 then it should say whoa, I need more cooling in the cab and turn on the compresser. I do controls work for a living and this a fairly simple algorithm, it just don't seem right to me. I know our car will keep the inside at whatever temp you set it to regardless what the outside temp is. :cold::)

True, but the engineers also know that when it's 65 degrees outside. MOST people do not turn on their A/C, they just open their windows or crank the fan up on high. (myself included). It still works if you manually hit the A/C button right? It's not that they "couldn't" make it work this way, it's because they are trying to make the Auto Climate control as "real world" as possible.
