You need the steering wheel with controls, a new clock spring and the dealer to program the BCM. Thats on 99 -07 classic. The new body style is easier.

Search is your friend. There have been tons of threads on this. And yes it can be done.

This was going to be on an 08 Sierra. I tried searching... But I must have some browser issues cause I wasnt coming up with anything. Or I wasnt formatting my search string right.

On the 08 its just a steering wheel swap. The harness is there just plug in and go. 1.) Remove air bag 2.) Steering wheel nut 3.) Unplug wiring harness 4.) Wiggle and pull steering wheel off 5.) Reverse order.

I have a question regarding the steering wheel swap for a 2006 Sierra. The information provided above is of great help. BUT, will the IPC be programmed for the extra functions or will a cluster capapble of using those functions have to be swapped in? My truck has the standard wheel and I want to swap it for a wheel with audio controls. I obtain the wheel, the new clock spring and either obtain a new BCM or have my current on reprogrammed. Do I have to do anything with the instrument panel cluster?

The extra info would greatly be appriciated.

The search function here sucks. I've had more luck typing what I want into google and adding "gm-trucks" to the end, might try that next time. :)

Try the advanced search here or try adding site:gm-trucks.com in google. It'll look only on this site and won't give you a bunch of other BS results. It's pretty handy.

Do you guys know if this swap made the bluetooth work? I have cruise on the wheel, but no audio controls. I also have the single disc radio/mp3 with XM and fully functional OnStar. I don't have a WT, mine is just an LT. I'm looking at adding the DIC and the wheel for audio controls. This has been a great read so far.
