What Wire To Use?

Recommended Posts

I just got my Subs in today and was wondering what wire I should use. The only wire I have on hand is some 12 gauge solid copper stuff. I was thinking of just using it inside the box to wire up the subs. They are Rockford P2 Dual 2 Ohm voice coils. Or should I go out and get some flexible strand kind.

The amp is already wired and I don't have alot of money to throw at the audio in this truck. In fact I am using my friend's amp, the stock speakers, my old Pioneer P3600 from about 4 years ago, and a (gulp) Scoche 8-gauge kit from (double gulp) Wal-Mart. I have about 300-400 bucks in all of it including harnesses and install gear. I have rolls of stiff 12 gauge copper wire laying around and just wondered if that would be fine to wire it up inside the box.

go to rat shack or wally world and get some decent sized STRANDED wire or if you have a fleamarket around go there. solid is defiantly not the way to go. And the wire im talking about is around $1 a foot and your just using it for your speakers so your not going to need a whole lot. Trust me my first system cost me twice as much as it should have b/c i cut corners. now i have 2 J/L w1 12" under the back seat pointing down, alpine digital 600 rms at 4ohm mono block running them in 2 ohm, 2 gauge wire, 1.5 farad cap, yellow top optima battery, pioneer 780mp deck, and a polk momo's plates all the way around. and a 4 channel alpine in the works if i can just get some time.
