Ac - Air Recirculation Switch Defaults To Outside Air

Recommended Posts

I just purchased a 2008 Silverado. Is there a way to keep the AC from defaulting to outside air? Can it be programmed at the dealer?

I requested On-star run a diagnostic check the other day and noticed immediatedly after the test the recirulation switch went to outside air. If they can trigger it, can it be programmed?

Very annoying, having to hit the recirculating switch every time I start it.

I think theyre all that way. when you hit the recirc button it runs the compressor. my dads 02 does it, Im pretty sure my own 2005 does too.

I believe your OnStar test was coincidental. What is your outside temp?

average outside temp is 90-95 degrees. Anyone else have this problem? Is this normal or am I the only one experiencing this?

I've noticed on startup w/ambient above 90 that it usually starts on outside air. I haven't quite pinned it down but I think sunlight on dash sensor also alters the start up ventilation mode. I do believe it is program consistant, I just haven't isolated the variables by observation.

My 03 HD did the same thing. It had auto a/c though. Never noticed it on any of my other trucks 99, 01 and my current 04 but they have had manual a/c.

I traded-in my 07 classic , it would stay on recirculation after restarting it.

I use the AC everyday here in Texas. Almost want to stick a piece of bubble gum on the recirculation switch to keep it from defaulting to outside air.
