08 Denali Owners, Step Inside.......

Hey everyone, new to this particular forum. I just got an 08 Sierra Denali, pretty much fully loaded. I traded in my 08 Ford F450 SD because the cost to run it was killing me, and since I don't tow any more, no need for a 3 ton truck :lol: .

 

When I took delivery of my truck last weekend, it had 6 miles on it, and had a scratch on the tailgate. No problem, the dealer said bring it in and they'll take care of it, which they are. After delivery, I washed it the next day, and found a gouge in the lower driver door, a scratched drivers rear view mirror, and a 2 dings in the pass door that had repaired....badly.

 

The other day, I noticed the 2 headphones and remote are missing for the RSE. I also noticed that the center console bin had no dividers of any kind in it. I'm beginning to think the divider accessories were hijacked along with the headphones and remote, but I have no way of knowing how the truck was SUPPOSED to be equipped, since my salesman is nothing more than an order taker. I am only mentioning all of this because it seems like this truck has been through alot in its very short life.

 

My question is, who has taken delivery of one of these trucks, and how was it equipped (center console speaking). The dealer is replacing the headphones and remote for the RSE, but has denied replacing anything for the center console. Any info is appreciated! Thanks :rolleyes:

It's very unfortunate that there have been some minor dings in the truck already, I hope that the dealer takes care of things for you. I would not be too happy at receiving a new truck that needs repairs that should have been spotted at a pre-delivery inspection. I am sure you will be happy with the truck once everything is made right though.

GM did not put any dividers in the center console, you have to buy an accessory tray from them if you want to make the console more functional.

I did forget to mention that I tried to purchase a divider through the parts dept., and they sold me a coin/cd holder that fits in to a larger divider tray that I don't have, and the only way they sell the piece I'm trying to get is to buy the entire console assembly !!!! Yikes!!

BTW....How 'bout posting some pics of the '67...I'm a big Corvette fan!

As for the truck have scratches and dings, ~25% of vehicles delivered to dealers need some sort of repair from damage that occurred during transportation. These repairs are usually paid for by the shipping company but it is the responsibility of the dealer to arrange the repair. I would not put it past some dealers (used the word some, as in a minority) to do a cheap repair, bill the shipping companies insurance a full price, and net the difference as additional profit on the sale of the vehicle, knowing that only a percentage of customers may identify the cheap repair.

Thanks! THAT was what I was looking for. My dealer said it wasn't available unless I bought the whole console assy.....that's why I came here, I knew I'd get the straight answer from someone :D

The 67 is mine, the 07 Ron Fellows Z06 is my dad's, and the C5 Coupe in the back ground is my mom's. My dad also has a 67 327/300 factory air roadster that he's owned since 69. They were both over visiting one day, so I set up an impromptu photo shoot.

Good idea, but where did you put that thing??? It looks awfully big...do you have any console between your seats at all?

      This is a 1/2 ton thing ONLY.  All HDs 2020-2026 have the two speed transfer case, with Autotrac as an option.     1/2 tons 2019-2026, regular 4x4s come with a single speed case (no 4LO!), and trucks with Z71 ordered, or all Trail Boss trucks come with the 2 speed case.  2 speed case is also an option on WT, and is also standard on High Country.

      2013 5.3 still to this day calls for the PF48 filter.  Which as a 15psi bypass pressure.     There is a TSB, 17-NA-157 that talks about the PF-63 and PF-64 filters which have a higher bypass rating of 22psi.    TSB HERE - temp.xml   "Beginning in 2012, the oil pumps began to regulate main gallery feedback instead of pump out pressure. This means that the oil pump now does not begin to regulate until pressure is built up to the main gallery. This change reduces the amount of time it takes to provide oil to the engine bearing and lifters during extreme cold start conditions.  Main gallery feedback oil pump control systems are present on the following engine families which use Spin-on oil filters: Small Gas Engine (SGE), Large Gas Engine (LGE), High Feature (HFV6) Gen2 and Small Block Gen5 gasoline engines. These engines with the main gallery feedback oil pump control systems are factory built with an ACDelco® oil filters"   It also calls out what engines use those filters.  The gen 4 small blocks were not on that list (LMG, LC9, L9H, L92, L94, L20, L96).  Gen 5 small blocks use the higher pressure filter.          That all said...   Your 7045 Napa filter is the PF63 equivalent, with 22psi bypass.  You are already using the higher bypass pressure filter.  You CAN keep using it, you don't technically have to use it though.

      Do you know WHY the filter relief setting was increased to 22 psig?    When the new system goes into the second stage the pump volume ramps up considerably. It was found that the 15 psi filter bypass setting put the filter in bypass on a warm engine when the second stage was activated. Raising the filter bypass setting forced the filter to do what it designed to do. Filter. Preventing debris from circulating during high load, high rpm operation.    So next question is how did GM find this out? VLOM/lifter failures and a deep dive by Melling Corp.    Last question. Is it required? Look at it like this; a motor may be equipped with a rev limiter. But it only works if the set point in reached. That 22 psig setting only matters if the pressure differential across the filter media exceeds 15 psig during normal warm operation. Second stage kicks in around 3000-3500 rpm.    I can't answer your question because I don't know you and how you use the truck. But I think there is enough information here to let you decide for yourself. 😉

      Probably not their first rodeo, so it should go as planned most likely.  Typically the service manager or tech doing the swap will put some seat time to shake it down after they get it all put back together.  We usually put 50-100mi before we hand them back so if something happens, its not after you get it.  A coolant leaks, oil leaks, a ground left off or loose, vibration, etc.     The new engines so far have been good?  There's been a couple that have popped out there again (the replacement engine) but most have been okay.
