A/c Heater Main Control Switch

I have just found this forum, really great site!

I have a 1994 GMC C1500. The A/C will only blow from the Heater vents and not out of the A/C vents or even switch over to the defrost vents. This used to be controlled manually in older trucks, but I realize that this is controlled by the main control unit. The LED readout says it switched, but the door will not open to let the air switch over to come out the A/C vents or defrost vents.

I might be wrong, but I feel like the main control switch is bad and it needs to be replaced. I didn't know if there was another switch that I need to check before I spend the money for the new control unit.

Thanks in advance!

Hey Kevin! First off welcome to the forum.

After reading your question again I think the problem you may be having is the AC Control Head. I've been fortunate enough to still have my original one, but its not uncommon to be on your 2nd or even 3rd control head. I thought I remembered them costing about $75 or $80, but I'm looking at my LMC catalog and they list it at $249.99. The only thing I can figure is that GM stopped producing these and they have suddenly sky rocketed in price. Makes me feel bad for returning the one I bought several years ago. You may even wanna try removing yours and cleaning the contacts with a q-tip and some alcohol.
