Oh The Joy Of A Bad Lifter

Well, its been a while since I had to take the top of a motor apart, but I have a lifter that on first start in the morning is rapping badly. It finally pumps up after several minutes, but I guess I know what Im doing this weekend. I dont want to let it go and damage the camshaft or have the lifter come out the side (ive seen it happen) 4.8 lilter only has 62K on it and I dont drive it hard. Any tips on possible problems with dis-assembly and replacement ?

  Ha!! So GM Customer service, ive already been talking with someone on your email team and there is nothing they can do. So pretty consistent with everyone else’s experience- you can do NOTHING.. worthless emails. Sure glad i have 4 GM cars on our family cuz now its clear you dont care.. Sad and pathetic.
