anyone towing and have lt 245 70 17 , what brand , anyone have experence with firestone transforce, i had my truck in today to the mechanic becouse i find some time it feels like its being pushed around as if by a side wind but no wind. the gm mechinic took it for a ride and felt the same thing. couldnt find any visable signs of a problem. he contacted gm tech support and the suggested it is inherent to the truck and that try anorher truck and see if it does the same thing,(it did and also had 245). i am thinking the trucks with the 265 70 17 might be more stable. any suggestions

The bigger the tire, the sidewall may be more "squirmy", especially if your talking about standard load P-rated tires for towing. Unless you bump up the load range, I seriously doubt going from 245 to 265 will solve any problems.

If the problem is with your tires, I'd switch to a different brand or style before changing sizes. Unless of course you want bigger rubber.

will adding more air to the tire improve handling while towing or should i drop them run them around 40-42 lb

higher or lower?

Inflate to maximum pressure as found on the sidewall when towing. My stock P265/70R17 tires have a maximum pressure of 44psi. I think your LT245 (load range C) tires are rated at 50 psi. Keep them pumped up, as underinflated tires may overheat and fail under load.
