Heater Ac Control

Newbie......

 

Just picked up a 95 Sierra Short Bed XC, 5.7, having a small problem with the heat/ac flow. Sometimes I can't seem to change the direction when turning the selector. The system seems to be stuck with the flow being blocked and not coming through the vents. Moving the selector doesn't always work. It has worked shutting off and restarting the truck. Any suggestions?

It could be the dash controller? A friend of mine has replaced his three times since it was new, but his is a '96. One thing to watch out for - I believe the '95 control unit is different than the years before and after it.

 

I have one I bought (used) as a spare in case I ever needed it. If you think that's your problem and want it, I'll take $40 plus shipping. It has the rear defroster button on it, so if your truck doesn't have rear defrost, that button wouldn't do you much good, but the controller should be fine. It looks like this one.

Thanks Randy, I actually just ordered the part (w/o defrost) from that ebayer. I wish that I had your response sooner (save $60)....

Missed it by that much.... :-)

 

Be relatively gentle with the lock tabs on each side of the control; they'll only stand so much abuse. Guess how I know. ;-)
