OK, here is the deal.. It has come time for me to trade in my 07 NBS Silverado Crew Cab. I just can't afford the $90 + fill ups anymore. I am treading it in in the next 3 days and the dealer I am trading it with said he did not care waht 20's it had on it as long as they where 20's. I have some aftermarket 20 inch rims that I bought at Discount Tire about 6 months ago that are MINT with no damage and the tires have 10K miles on them and have been rotated every 3K miles. I paid roughly $1000 for the rims and that included mounting and lifetime balancing.

 

Here is what I will do.. If someone has some factory 20's (not the chrome, just the aluminum that come on the Texas Edition) they would swap me for my set of chrome 20's. I woud sell mine for $500 + your set of factory 20's. This is a cheap way to get so me nice looking chrome 20s for $500 bucks. Like I said, they have been cleaned with chrome cleaner every month since they where new and that was approx 6 months ago. NO damage whstsoever.

 

This would of course only work if you live in the North dallas area near Frisco, Little Ellm, Plano, Allen or Mckinney. WE could meet at Discount Tire and do the swap.

 

NOTE: You wheels/tires have to be in the aame condition as mine (near mint-mint) and the tires need to have close to the mileage mine have (10K) in order for me to do the deal.

 

I will also have a gently used Access tonneau cover and factory painted bug shield (silverstone) for sale as well. I will list those seperate later this week. I hate to say it, but these trucks are worth nothing right now. My friend that owns a dealer said 07 NBS Crews where selling for 14K at the auctions last week. He showed me the receipt on one to prove it as I didn't believe him. It was a Crew with leather and loaded. One dealer offered me 16K for it and this was 32K MSRP less than 1 year ago. All of the rebates and 0% interest on the 08's has killed the resale value of these trucks. I ended getting 20K trade for it for it, but that was from my friend that owns a dealer and I have dealt with him on many new vehicles.

 

Its not a good market for trading in trucks right now.

I assume you did some simple math to figure out how long it will take you to recoup the massive loss you are taking on your truck to save a little bit of gas money? :lol:

Jim, I don't mean to get into your business but if you get hosed on the trade wouldn't it be better to just keep putting gas in it? The break even will be way down the road if I understand you correctly.

 

Good luck to you whichever way you end up going with it but take care of yourself financially if possible.

Yes I did do some math and gas is not going to get any cheaper, only more expensive. I am getting out of this truck while I still can. I spent $500 last month on gas and am getting a whopping 15MPG and can't deal with that anymore.

 

If people want to keep these trucks and can keep paying almost $100 + for fill ups, more power to them. I just can't do it anymore. Like I said, this isn't just going to be short term, gas is going to do nothing but keep getting more and more expensive with the way the election is going and the war.

Hey Thanks, its not that bad actually. I have a 0% for 60 note right now on the 07 Crew and am taking about a 5K hit on my trade in but I will make that up quickly with a $200 per month less vehicle payment and at least a $150 per month savings on gas. Like I said before, gas is only going to keep going up and the prices of all V8 vehicles will keep dropping more and more..

 

On a side note, I could not believe how many trucks, Tahoes and suburbans on on the lots around here, amazing. Chevy is going to have to do more than 0% for 72 to get rid of all these v8 vehicles as no one is buying them even at the great rate.

They are made by MB Motorsports and I am not sure of the model. I can send pics to anyone if they email me. They are sharp looking chrome 20's..

 

I am 46 and take care of my stuff as well.

 

I also did not want this to get into a discussion about gas prices and such. I have decided to do this (trade the crew in) and feel its whats best for me and my family right now. MY wife has a 08 GMC Acadia and that gets 18 so we have to get something that gets decent mileage.

 

Out of curiosity, what are the wheels that are currently on the truck - the 20's you're talking about trading? I caught that you got them from Discount Tire. But, I didn't see a mention of which wheels they were...?

I checked Discount Tire's website. I can't find wheels that look like that. Maybe someone else can identify them for us. Do they come with the tires and TPMS, Jim?

I know they change out wheels on that website all the time, so no telling why they are not listed anymore. They where like $225 each plus tax. mount/balance.

 

They will come tires and all.. I will then get the tires/wheels of whoever wants to trade with me. I guess I should have menetioned the wheels I trade with need to have the TPS monitors as well.

 

I hope I explained this well enough and I know this is longshot to sell in 3 days so if it works out thats fine. If not, no big deal.. The dealer will just get them.

I am buried in my truck but I only have 51 payments at 0% left and thats better than taking on another 72 month new loan and being buried in that. I am just going to put leather seats in my truck since its obvious GM is going to do nothing about the crap ebony cloth seats they put in my truck whren it was built.

 

I also need to try to find a way to get better than 15.7 MPG. If anyone has any sugesstions, please let me know.

Sorry to read that you're gonna trade in your truck. While the gas market sucks, it could be worse, alot worse. I hope you don't get screwed over on your trade-in, it must hurt to resort to this.

 

What size engine do you have btw? I fill up at AM/PM @ $4.21 a gallon and I get cut-off at $98 and some change (the pump cuts off) I don't even get the full tank BUT...I can make that tanks last at least 2 weeks with driving back and forth to work (I have a 4.8L)

 

I know some of you guys don't buy the hype of TB spacers but I'll be giving it a shot now if its really supposed to help with those mid-mph's.

 

BTW you suckered me in with the title of this thread :M16::gmc: .

I quit caring what kind of MPG I'm getting with my truck, like you said it's just going to keep getting worse so I figure screw it. I love my truck to much to downgrade back to a 4 banger with no leg room, although I had thought of picking up an Aveo hatchback then throwing an Eibach drop kit with some 17's or 18's on it. I think those Aveo's are getting somewhere between 35-40 mpg. my 07' Impala gets like 25-30mpg.

      This is a 1/2 ton thing ONLY.  All HDs 2020-2026 have the two speed transfer case, with Autotrac as an option.     1/2 tons 2019-2026, regular 4x4s come with a single speed case (no 4LO!), and trucks with Z71 ordered, or all Trail Boss trucks come with the 2 speed case.  2 speed case is also an option on WT, and is also standard on High Country.

      2013 5.3 still to this day calls for the PF48 filter.  Which as a 15psi bypass pressure.     There is a TSB, 17-NA-157 that talks about the PF-63 and PF-64 filters which have a higher bypass rating of 22psi.    TSB HERE - temp.xml   "Beginning in 2012, the oil pumps began to regulate main gallery feedback instead of pump out pressure. This means that the oil pump now does not begin to regulate until pressure is built up to the main gallery. This change reduces the amount of time it takes to provide oil to the engine bearing and lifters during extreme cold start conditions.  Main gallery feedback oil pump control systems are present on the following engine families which use Spin-on oil filters: Small Gas Engine (SGE), Large Gas Engine (LGE), High Feature (HFV6) Gen2 and Small Block Gen5 gasoline engines. These engines with the main gallery feedback oil pump control systems are factory built with an ACDelco® oil filters"   It also calls out what engines use those filters.  The gen 4 small blocks were not on that list (LMG, LC9, L9H, L92, L94, L20, L96).  Gen 5 small blocks use the higher pressure filter.          That all said...   Your 7045 Napa filter is the PF63 equivalent, with 22psi bypass.  You are already using the higher bypass pressure filter.  You CAN keep using it, you don't technically have to use it though.

      Do you know WHY the filter relief setting was increased to 22 psig?    When the new system goes into the second stage the pump volume ramps up considerably. It was found that the 15 psi filter bypass setting put the filter in bypass on a warm engine when the second stage was activated. Raising the filter bypass setting forced the filter to do what it designed to do. Filter. Preventing debris from circulating during high load, high rpm operation.    So next question is how did GM find this out? VLOM/lifter failures and a deep dive by Melling Corp.    Last question. Is it required? Look at it like this; a motor may be equipped with a rev limiter. But it only works if the set point in reached. That 22 psig setting only matters if the pressure differential across the filter media exceeds 15 psig during normal warm operation. Second stage kicks in around 3000-3500 rpm.    I can't answer your question because I don't know you and how you use the truck. But I think there is enough information here to let you decide for yourself. 😉

      Probably not their first rodeo, so it should go as planned most likely.  Typically the service manager or tech doing the swap will put some seat time to shake it down after they get it all put back together.  We usually put 50-100mi before we hand them back so if something happens, its not after you get it.  A coolant leaks, oil leaks, a ground left off or loose, vibration, etc.     The new engines so far have been good?  There's been a couple that have popped out there again (the replacement engine) but most have been okay.
