How To Get To Horns On Nbs ?

Recommended Posts

Anyone know how to get to the horns on the NBS ? I bought a "Bad Boy" horn to go on my 2008 GMC but I didn't think it would be any problem hooking it up 'til I looked for the horns. Seems like they are somewhere under the headlights? Thanks for your help.

On the right (passenger) side, easy access from underneath.

The left side is much more difficult, at least it looks like it as I haven't had to ever change that horn out.

Someone that has changed/remove the left side will chime in.

Just looking at it, it looks like removal of the grill, headlight and turn light assemblies and the washer tank.

I have basically the same horn that you have, Stebel Nautilus. My right horn went out and, like yourself, I was going to replace both OEM horns with just the one Stebel. I removed the right OEM horn, cut off the OEM horn the metripack connector, created a pigtail to connect the Stebel back to the OEM harness connector. I then tried the new horn. With the left OEM and the Stebel on the right, sounds really good. I also reused the right OEM horn brackt to mount the Stebel horn. Other thing I noticed, that since the Stebel is an air horn, there is a very slight delay for anything audible. With the left OEM horn still hooked up, the "chirp" from the basic content alarm still works whereas with just the Stebel, you never hear anything.

I see Mike posted diagrams for access.

Thanks for the replies - looks like a real PIA to mess with. I'll have to study on it for a while.

Oh......I just looked at NBS in the post, not your profile. You're asking about a NNBS and you did have 2008 in the post............so never mind about my reply. Well maybe the right side is still applicable

I have a GMT-800 series and you have a GMT-900 series. But most of us elders on this forum realized that most purchasing a GMT-900 series usually have a difficult time with any designation greater than three letters. Thus, we'll concede NBS to the GMT-900 owners, as even NNBS would have a lot of posters crying for mommy because four letters is greater than three letters and hurts thinking about it.
