Front Sway Bar Link Question

Recommended Posts

Posted

Today while driving down the freeway at speed, I heard a loud clunk like I had run over something. A short time later I heard another. When I got off the road and took a look underneath the truck, it was obvious that I had lost the link from the control arm to the sway bar on the right side of my truck. What was more disturbing was that it looked like the cv was at a not so happy angle and the shock looked compressed more than the drivers side. My wife who was following me said the right side tire/wheel was wobbling all over the place on the way to the stealership.

I dont have my torsion bars cranked beyond the recommended, and had normal or acceptable cv joint angle on both sides before this happened.

Is this a common problem with the 4x4 trucks? My buddy who's got a duramax 2500 and 6" lift has had the same thing occur. He's actually replaced his links with aftermarket parts and had them break again. Is there anything I should be looking for or be concerned about when it comes back from repair?

Thanks in advance.. NorCal
