Josh Hamilton Hit 28 In One Round

Basically, if you don't have the tv on ESPN; you should. This guy just cranked 28 homeruns in the FIRST ROUND of the home run derby. Unreal. From drugs and death to baseball legend. It also set the new record for homeruns in one round. Just another small fact--he just hit as many in one round as the leader in baseball up to this point has in the season. I am glad I got to see this kind of a spectacle in sports. (Next closest is Berkman with 8 homers) wow

Better than last year, he only had 4. He's a great player though. Lots of "Ribbies" and a great clutch hitter. Not a bad 1st baseman either.

Morneau won because Hamilton was wore out. I watched Bobby Abreau (sp?) hit 24 to set the record in 2004 or 2005 and now I just watched Hamilton destroy it. the difference is Hamilton's homers were freagin moon shots. good lord that man can hit a baseball a mile. I thought a couple of them were leaving the stadium.

That was absolutely the greatest show of power I've ever seen. Period. Abreu may have only hit 4 less, but I think the cumulative distance of Hamilton's shots were alsmost twice as far as Abreu's.

Simply amazing.

which means you know shit bud. the dude is tested "AT LEAST" 3 times a week as part of his probation and he's been clean for 2 years. one more strike and he's out of baseball for good. he only eats, sleeps, workouts and plays baseball. he's a great story about going from rock bottom to the top..........naturally. BTW, he NEVER has tested positive for steroids. he did other drugs like heroin which is why he has the tattoos.

His wife and kids stuck with him through it all.

I suggest everyone who loves a good story to read this. God bless Josh Hamilton for giving credit where credit is due.

He's a great story, and a phenomenal talent, hands down. It's one of the best stories I have heard in a long time but that does not make him untouchable when it comes to a few jokes here and there, IMO.

The Drugs = Tattoos thing is funny though. I have several friends with a lot of tattoos that don't do drugs.

Shh...I have some that do though!

First of all, fine, I'll retract the Steroids accusation. But let me now say this:

"Great story"??? Why is it a guy has to be a complete low-life loser that turns his life around to be a "great story", but the guy who walks the "straight and narrow" his whole life and also becomes successful (whether in sports or wherever) never gets the same recognition?

Sorry, but I give a hell of a lot more credit to the guy who doesn't "Hit rock bottom" and have to turn his life around.

I see this everywhere, at every level. Hell, even my brother was a complete drunk a few years ago and it almost killed him. He sobers up and suddenly he is the "hero" of the family and everybody kisses his ass and makes him out to be some kind of hero. IMO, that's bullshit!!! yeah, I know..."Good for him", which it is, but it hardly makes him any better than someone who doesn't screw up in the first place.

So yeah, I'll give him "credit" as it's due, but I believe even more "credit is due" to the person who was never a loser in the first place.

And how you KNOW he never did steroids? Cuz he is now your "hero" and he said so? Why wouldn't he have? It's quite obvious he didn't give a crap about his body anyway, right?

before your diatribe of diarreah of the keyboard. I was referring to him giving credit to God for helping him turn his life around. I don't appreciate your condenscending tone, but I'll let it slide. he is NOT my hero. my father is and always will be, however the man deserves to be applauded and I could give 2 shits if you disagree to be honest. no offense.

it's WAY harder for people who have addictions to turn their life around when there is only a 5% success rate for junkies who are able to come clean and live a normal life. Hamilton falls into that 5% and deserves every recognition he receives for doing it. He's an example to others that you CAN turn your life around.

I've lived the straight and narrow my whole life as well. I'm not asking for a cookie and neither is he.

I had a very good friend who died of a heroin over dose. all of us tried to help him and get him rehab, but he didn't want to change. so if I chose to use this story to show other people it can happen, then why do you care?
