4" Lift

Im considering a lift for my truck, i need some more ground clearance, and i need to fit some tougher tires. Yes, it will look cool, but my main reason is more for the offroad benefits. i put on alot of miles so im not going 35". that said, im looking at the CST 4" lift, or the Rancho 4". My question, how do these lifts hold up when they're not on the highway? will i be able to fit a 33X12.5X18 tire (probably going Cooper STT) without rubbing? everyone says the rancho 4" is actually a 5.5", so my next question, anybody have a picture of a 6" with 33's?

 

another reason im leaning towards the 4" is im unsure if im gunna run winter tires on the factory rims.

Extended cab z71

4.10 rear end

 

ive seen a few people with the CST 4" on here, so if youve installed it yourself, did you run into any problems with it?

alot of questions i know, and ive tried searching, but ive found the search doesnt work well for multiple keywords.

im just wondering also what size tires will fit under the truck with the wheels.

im going with rancho as soon as i find out if they have one for a 2008

You can fit 33's for sure, and 35's I think (maybe need to trim some), but good luck finding something in a 20 inch rim size. You're gonna get raped for any A/T or off-road tire on 20's.

maybe smaller wheels might be cheaper in the long run.

Popular rim sizes are 16 and 17 inches. If I remember correctly, the jump from 17 to 18 was pretty significant as far as tire prices go. Your best bet would probably be to buy new wheels and tires, and keep the stock ones for winter. But, if new wheels aren't in the budget, I think Cooper makes some aggressive tires in 20 inch rim sizes.

Do people with the CST 4" lift have blocks stacked in the back? The lift block that comes with the kit is only 2" tall, so I was wondering about this.

Stacking blocks isnt a good thing to do, but I think it does require you to stack them. I just looked the kit up thinking that maybe a AAL was included, but its not. Strange....

+1 Its actually a stupid thing to do... I knew someone that stacked blocks on a SAS and was in a bad wreck...
