Any High Milage 5.3 Out There?

Looking at a 2002 Sierra SLT Z71 with a 5.3 engine.

Had the same engine in my 06, but do you think 174000 miles is pushing it for a 2002??

Truck is in great shape and I'm sure about 95% of the miles are highway.

Any thoughts??

what happened to your 06?

Your going to have CSK with it, and prb a trans bump, but otherwise then a few quirks it should be okay for a while as long as everythign was serviced regularly

Haha, after my 06 left me on the hook twice for a no start, then had all 4 doors sanded and repainted on the underside for rust... I shipped it down the road!

My local dealer took it back a year early, I bought a 2008 Montana SV6 for my wife and girls... sold her Grand Am... now truck hunting! LOL

If the tranny isn't the original, then you should be good. I have an 02, no CSK on mine. Going strong at ~90,000 miles...haven't really driven it in a month or so though. Sure is nice on the wallet!

i work at a car lot and the other day we had a chevy 1500 Z71 extended cab come in with 193,000 and it also had the 5.3. it drove fine no problems that i could tell.

I just traded my 01, 5.3, z71, extended cab....... had just over 223k on the odometer..... It was just as powerful as the day I bought it........ If you're asking why did I trade it in???? I needed a full four door truck..... other than that, i loved my Sierra........ I would not hesitate one bit to buy a GM truck with 200k, on the odometer......
