Service Ride Control

2001 Denali had the service ride control light come on the dash. I took it in to the dealer and they told me that the shock was good but the sensor was bad and could not be replaced without a new shock. Is there any way to bypass this system so that the light goes off?

I just install two new rear shocks on my 2003 Denali, with auto ride control. The dealer wanted $1250.00 for the pair, (not), but i cant figure out why they couldn't replace the sensor and still use the old shocks. As long as the shocks are good, the sensor just conects to the pump anyways, not directly to the shocks. I think they were just trying to sell you shocks. By the way, you can get the shocks for about $200.00 a pc at Arnottindustries.com, instead of paying $460 each from the dealer, what a rip.

If you really want to disable the ride control system, go to strutmasters.com. They sell shocks for the Denali that don't utilize the ride control sensor, and they will know how to disable it, and can sell you the shocks for about $150 each that work with the truck.

Dealers, what a rip!
