Ok so here is the rundown.

Swaping my 5.3L 4l60E to a 6.0L Forged internals mated to a 6L90E

Engine will be shipped 07/25/08 for forging.

6.0L Gen IV Block with L92 heads. Dont know if its VVT or not

If its a VVT, It will be removed, block will be prepped for 12 psi.

Rods, pistons, cam, heads from local guy whos really good

Set up for 6500 rpm redline.

TVS 1900

Tranny update. its being replaced, a new tranny is on its way

6L90E will be bolted up after the engine goes in and is broken in.

Needed items are crossmember and driveshaft.

Programming will also be needed.

Goals, are high to mid 11's with street weight and slicks.

Needs to be a daily driver.

Updates will be made with pics and other information will be posted. I want everything to look like its stock so money will be spend and dreams might be crushed.

Stay tuned...............................

Why not just wait and buy a 2009 Silverado that already comes with the 6.0L and the 6 speed automatic?

financial standpoint this looks better.

IMO it would be way cheaper to buy the truck with all that included, especially right now that truck sales are way lower.

I ment to say whole engine will be prepped for 12 psi

and the TVS 1900 is a 4 lobe supercharger from magnacharger.

Not really id go about 10k upside down on a new truck, plus another 13k for the upgrades im doing. So total 23k instead of the 13k its costing me now.

Whats this? #1 Engine will be shipped for forging is.

The stock engine will do what you want. Heck the 1996 L98 Corvette that GM built for testing went to 20 psi with out blowing. Engine was right off the assembly line.

Kind of what I was thinking, why get a new block?

I know a stock engine can handle about 550 hp, but its not that reliable, i want something where ill drive it for years without problems, plus might get 200 shot also just to see what i can get out of it.

I want a reliable 800hp capable engine thats in a daily driver, when im done with this its not yet done untill i get the truck into the 10's in the far future.

This was discussed to death in his earlier threads about this. He needs the forged engine for anything daily driven over 9psi.

It's not cheaper to buy a new truck with the 6spd because he would take a massive hit on the trade in.

Personally, if I wanted to build something to run 10's or 11's, it would be a car. They are far lighter and much easier/cheaper to get into the 10's. I would go get me a late 60's musclecar and build it. But that's just me.... :sigh:

Been there done that. Now its time for a truck. I know its more expensive but i think i can some of the money back from doing the 5.3L AFM into a third gen f-body and selling that for some cash.

Are you sure you're going to be able to run without a cage and racing equipment? I know some tracks require things like cages for certain time and speed class vehicles. As sweet as an 11 second sleeper truck is, that speed in a 5000lb brick isn't the safest and maybe a total sleeper isn't the best idea. Either way, I like the plan and can't wait to see it unfold.

I agree, but still having a 11 sec sleeper truck, is awsome, gonna be hunting down lambos and Ferrs in Los Angeles when its done. :sigh:
