If some of you guys can remember back to your 95-98 Trucks the little speakers that are in the window control and power lock molding thing (Armrest).... well my truck doesnt have them... LMC Truck has them and i was wondering if i would be able to "add" these?

Wouldnt i just need to go into the door speaker? or how were these tied into the system?

im thinking i cut the speaker wire going into the big door speaker then butt connect it back together with 2 wires in 1 end and 1 in the other this should make it work right?

Hope you guys can Help!!!!

thanks!!!!!!

Those are called tweeters.

No need, the harness for the tweeter is already in the door, it should be wrapped around and taped to the wires leading to your door switches. You don't even have to remove the door panel, just pull up the switch panel. Look for gray and tan wires in the driver's door and light green and dark green wires in the passenger's door.

To be honest though, I would not waste $40 a piece on those tweeters.

+1, I actually unhook my tweeters in my trucks. The only tweeters I liked were the ones from the BOSE system or aftermarket. You could get a set of aftermarket tweeters and hook them into those harnesses for about $60 depending on what you choose.

those "Tweeters" did not come in from factory... but the wiring harness is still there?

Do they make OEM style tweeters that would still go into the same place or would i have to make something?

Yup, at least it was in my truck, I had no factory tweeter either.

The tweeters that LMC Truck sells are basically plug-and-play (twist them in place and connect the wiring harnesses together) but it's not hard at all to put an aftermarket tweeter in there either.

I've got the speaker grilles in my doors, but no tweeters. I haven't really paid attention to if the wires were there or not. Actually I need the big speakers for the front - I have one that cuts in and out, and another one that I accidentally pulled the wires off of (was working on the door, it fell out and I tried to catch it - caught the wires and they came right off). I'll probably be heading to the 'yard for those though - It's just my work truck, I just need some tunes, nothing special.

I think you would be better off going with an aftermarket set, the factory speakers have paper cones and don't exactly last very long. These Pioneer speakers make excellent OEM replacements and run about $30 for the pair: http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_11093_...+TS-G1642R.html

Depends on what you're willing to spend here. I would get a nice component system and an amplifier to go with it, but that gets pricey very quickly. :D

Here are some tweeters, anything between 3/4" to 1" should be able to fit easily. Avoid the off-brands like Boss, Soundstorm, Power Acoustik, Pyle, Pyramid, Lanzar, Visonik, etc.

BTW, the material that the tweeter is made out of can have an effect on the sound. Hard domes (aluminum, titanium, etc.) tend to have a brighter sound to them, while soft domes (silk, textile, etc.) tend to have a more natural tone. It doesn't exactly make one superior to the other, it's really just a personal preference.

These Diamond Audio tweeters are basically the same ones that came with my component system. Very detailed and clean, but they might sound a little sharp to some.

And the tweeters do i have to make brackets to mount them in there? how are they held in place?

Don't expect a huge improvement, but they are a great replacement for tired stock speakers.

The tweeters should come with brackets that allow you to flush-mount the tweeter. You may have to do a little cutting, because they aren't made specifically for these trucks.
