Erratic Cruise Control Switch Behavior

Recommended Posts

Posted

I have a 2002 Sierra 2500HD dmax, with the traditional cruise control. Occasionally, not often, after I've driven on the interstate for a while with it on, I'll have occasion to tap the brakes and it'll go off, as it's supposed to. But then no matter what I do, I can't re-engage it. Turning it off and back on won't do it. Clicking the "resume" button won't do it. It's almost as if it has a built-in thermal overload circuit or something that prevents it from re-engaging for a while. I haven't RTFMed yet, and I promise I will. But can anyone tell me now if it's supposed to behave this way, or is it more likely there's something funky about how my switch is working or how I'm trying to make it work?

thx
