Rear Seat Rattle

Recommended Posts

My crewcab has a terrible rattle that seems to be from the seat back bracket, the one the seat hangs on. If I flip the seats up, no noise, seats down drives me crazy. The bracketry is easily moveable by hand. looks like the seat would have to be unbolted from the floor in order to check for loose hardware. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

If you are under warrenty still just take it to the dealer.

It's going in on Tuesday for the oil leak and b-pillar plastic, but I have no faith in the dealers around here, so the less they touch the better.

I think I will go and check out a new model and see if the seat functions the same way as mine does.

Two things;

1. If the rear seat belt on either side is twisted, it rattles against the pillar. If you turn it straight, it is fixed until someone else uses the belt.

2. Also, the black piece that attaches to the seat belts for kids will also rattle against the pillar.

I don't know if that is your issue but it was mine.

If it is only brackets, I believe there are only four bolts for the back seats. I took the rear seats completely out when I first got the truck to replace the cloth with leather. It wasn't too hard. Hope this helps

ours is the actual mechanism loose, the spring inside

Thanks for the replys. How did you come to this conclusion? Did you also have your seat out? Just wanting to know what to tell the dealer if I can't do it myself.

the tek. and i drove around and he put one of the seats down hard enough that you could hear it rattle, after hearing it rattle the whole time we were driving. then he brought his stethoscope and put it right on it while we were driving and that was it he said the coil spring in it kinda like a tape measure spring lost its resistance and is just loose in there

well they figured out it is the seatbelt mechanism the weight inside rattling. i have to take it back Thur for the rep to make a decision weather to replace them or not

Well took mine in last week and they found the back of the seat was loose at some of the brackets, so they re-tighten them and the rattle is gone..also had both side pillars replaced too..no more gap showing..

I guess I should bring mine in to get the rattle fixed as well. Mine is opposite when seats are folded up there is a rattle and when they are both down no rattle. I only have 900km left before warrantly is out so I better get it in.
