Does the solenoid click?

Friendly Info: I'd recommend not using all caps either, some people take that as screaming and get all bent out of shape over it.

Sorry about the caps i have replaced the terminals and the starter has been tested but while in the car there is nothing not even an attempt to engage from the starter. I do hear a click under the dash like a relay swithing

New or old style 99? Engine?

Let's see what we've established here so far....

- starter motor bench checked good

- battery cable terminals replaced

- solenoid is NOT clicking

- starter relay IS clicking (which tells me it's probably not the ignition switch)

Have you checked your ignition fuses? If they're good take out the relay and test the battery positive voltage circuit to see if you have 12 volts there.

All fuses are good not sure how to check the positive voltage circuit

First of all you'll have to find the relay and I have no clue where it is on your vehicle but you might try following the clicking sounds. Remove it from the wiring, relay panel or wherever it's plugged in and test the receptacle w/ a test light for voltage. One leg should be hot, no voltage on the others. Test it w/ the ignition switch OFF.

I think we're getting too complicated here. Unless I missed something we don't know if there is power at the starter yet. Get a test light connect one side to ground and the other side to the big terminal at the starter. You should have power there all the time. Take the test lamp with one side still connected to battery ground and have someone crank the truck with the other end of the light on the small wire at the starter. It should light with the key in the crank position. Let us know what you get.

Ok so you had light on the test lamp when you should have. Get a breaker bar and the right size socket, put it on the crank pulley bolt and turn the motor by hand. It's not likely you have a siezed motor but it's easy enough to check how I just said. If the motor turns by hand and not by starter and you have good battery power at the starter and good switched power at the starter then you need a starter.

There is another option which is battery cables but you would need to be pretty handy with a good voltmeter to check those. If the enging turns by hand put a starter in it.

the guy I baught the truck from told me to try a screw driver to both positive terminals on the starter so i did and it started and has started about ten time with no problem since i guess i might need to replace the cable going to the selinoid
