Remove drive shaft, put GM prop grease in the end of the drive shaft that goes into the transmission, then replace drive shaft.

... GM prop grease ...

Is this a "special" grease that is unique for this condition?

Or is this similar to blinker fluid?

I found these instruction on how to change your blinker fluid.

Blinker

Don't know why my icon did not show. This is very normal for GM, it has been going on since the late 1980's. I've had many trucks and Suburbans since then and some do it and some don't.

I just know the fix if it does do it.

They are still working on mine....They put in the secret grease and it lasted for about a day. Dealer told me it is a normal characteristic of driveline lash!!!!!

Right...............

is this as easy as it sounds or will it be a bitch?

It's easy. Like 4 bolts and some grease.

so, how do you do this? which bolts?

The 4 bolts that hold the rear u-joint into the yoke.

First, mark the driveshaft and the yoke so you put it back with the same orientation. Then undo the 4 bolts for the rear u-joint. The u-joint should just pop right out of the yoke, but I had to pry mine off with a crowbar. Drop the rear of the shaft down, and slide the slip-yoke out of the transfer case. Grease the splines inside the slip yoke. Reverse steps to install. :D

Yup.

Just make sure that the truck has the wheels blocked so it can't roll. Putting it in park won't do squat with the tranny decoupled from the wheels.

I don't trust the e-brake for shit either. CHOCK THE WHEELS, or the truck will roll over you.
