Has Anyone Upgraded To Heated Seats?

I was thinking about buying the GM accessory heated seats, part no 17083282. Does anyone have any experience they could share as to how well they work, and how they are installed? Thanks.

A buddy of mine who works at another dealer tried to install them,He got the heaters themselves installed with no issues,however programming them to work was another issue.

He couldn't get them programmed at all,He then called GM tech-assistance,they told him to try a couple different things,none of them worked.

They ended up removing the GM heaters and sent it out to have aftermarket heaters put in.

Anyone do this mod yet? My question is where does the control panel go in the wt dash LT trucks? Anyone with a pic of it installed?

I dont know about how they work but I have seen where they are installed. The controls go in the small cubby to the right of the HVAC controls. I have seen a pic but don't remember where. They did look factory though!

Had a dealer add these to a 2009 Sierra 1500 4wd with the all-terrain package and cloth bucket seats. The switches were on the door next to the handle like the Denali instead of on the dash like the WT. Heaters installed no problem. Programming was another story. After the usual trouble-shooting procedure - check the modules, wiring connections, etc. Tech support said the dash switch was not programming, my mechanic asked "What dash switch? Bucket seats!". Their reply was "We'll get back to you." My mechanic was persistant and after 2 weeks of his daily calls to GM-tech support - they finally updated the program. They work fine now. Thank goodness I went with the installed price.

I had the dealer install them when I purchased my truck. Best thing about them is you can turn on the seat bottoms and backs, or just the seat backs. Being able to turn on the seat backs only is great for long drives if your back starts to get stiff.

I had this kit installed on mine when I picked the truck up. The install looks "factory" and is available as a limited production option, factory installed, under option code "W03". The price you'll see on the window sticker is $633.

I paid $500 to have the dealer install mine and it was well worth it. GM SPO quotes 3 hours worth of install time so I figured it was worth it to have them do it. The dealer was pushing some aftermarket setup but that wouldn't have been covered under the 3 year/36,000 warranty bumper to bumper warranty like factory installed/dealer installed equipment is.

I used a aftermarket seat heater by Rostra and it allows either the back or the bottom to be on or both. I paid about $80 for each kit and about 1 hour per seat to install.
