so i finally have time to install my add a leafs.... i know i have to unbolt the axle ... then undo the center pin... the fabtech instructions look like it goes between the first leaf and the second leaf making the new leafspring the 2nd one in the pack when done. i am thinking of useing a c clamp right by the center pin and then slowly letting it out till i have enough room..

I've installed 2 AAL kits now, both Superlift brand but they're simple and all the same. You must have at least 2 c-clamps on the spring pack before unbolting the center pin. Also, you'll need 2 sets of jackstands -- my most recent experience with this job almost resulted in losing the rear axle and snapping brake lines, LOL.I had a hell of a time getting the pin holes in the leaves to stay aligned while clamping the new leaf into the pack.Good luck.

yea took about 3.5 hours to do... i had to run and get new u bolts since mine were too rusty to put back on... but right now it sits 1.75" higher in the back... and i actually didnt crank my t-bars at all since i like the look... and if anything the back might settle a 1/4" or something... p9120019za2.th.jpg p9120021tc0.th.jpg

btw the smallest u-bolts they had were WAY too long so i have to just wrench tighten then cut off the bolts with a cuttoff wheel and tighten with the impact...

Looks good.

Wow, those u-bolts were really looooong.

I had the broken leafs replaced and re-arched on my '59 Chevy P/U (rear axle) and had to use a bottle jack and chains to "flatten" out the spring pack so it would reach the front pivot and rear shackle.

3-1/2 hours and only 2 pics?

What were you doing the rest of the time ... drinking?
