Escalade Esv Snow Tires

I'm looking for snow tires for my Escalade ESV with the optional 22" wheels.

I can't find any...

Can I use my extra set of 17" suburban wheels that I have?

I'm thinking it would mess up the computer because the diamter's are different...

You can use the 17s. A lot of people do. With the right tires, the difference on OD is almost nothing. Computer doesn't care about wheel diameter... just overall diameter.

You can reprogram the computer for the 17" wheels if need be. If your rolling diameter isn't going to change much you don't need to really worry about changing the computer. Things may be a bit off, but not significantly.

Here are the outside diameters from tirerack .com

Escalade 22" wheels 32.2" tire outside diameter

Escalade 18" wheels 30.5" tire outside diameter

Chevy burb 17" wheels 31.7" tire outside diameter.

So the closest I can come is 1/2" using my chevy wheels.

1/2" I feel is pretty significant....

aren't the 08 computers pretty fussy about reprogamming?

isn't there a flash counter in there or something?

That will help you find what tires will help you keep the same diameter. Honestly, just get it close. Between differing air pressures and tread wear, the vehicles can handle some change in diameter with out issue.

Your dealer can also help you program for tire size so that shouldn't be an issue either.

Those sizes might be true if the factory tire size was used but you can easily buy a 32 inch 17" or 18" tire to put on those rims. 1/2 inch is NOTHING to these trucks though. The tires on my truck are a full 1.5 inches taller and there has never been any issue whatsoever. You are easily safe using the OEM 17s. Your speedo may be off a mile or two or so at 60mph, but that's about it.

Consider this... A new tire changes in overall diameter over 1/2 inch from the time it is new and the time it is worn out right? As tread wears out, tires are constantly changing in overall diameter. The computer doesn't know the difference.

ok, how about the brakes?

Would the chevy 17" wheels clear the escalade brakes?

one would figure Caddy upsized the brakes to handle the 18" or 22" wheels, but I never looked..

all assuming the 2003 chevy wheels I have are the same offset and bolt pattern as the 08's
