Shift Kit

So, I'm thinking of putting a shift kit in my '02 silverado mostly to prolong the life, but also to make it a little more fun to drive. I have read a bunch about them and most are pointing towards the transgo kit. The transgo kit seems to be more expensive than many others out there. What is the difference. Also, I have a buddy that put a kit in a buick regal and he pieced his together with the help of a forum for $15. Thoughts or Comments???

If you are just looking for some more fun a programmer that lets you modify the transmissions shift points and other characteristics should do you just fine. I have no personal experience with transgo shift kits in gas engine transmissions but a few guys I know have them in Duramax/Allison equipped trucks and love them. IMO B&M makes a great shift kit as well. I had one in my 1993 Trans Am and loved it. Either company should do you good if your intent on more then a programmer. Good luck.
