New Shocks

Hey all. As you all know I haven't had my truck long. Its now got 45K on it with the stock shocks. I'm a firm believer in changing shocks every 40K-50K. I've read a lot of good things about the Bilstein shocks and the Rancho RS9000XL. If I were to go with the Ranchos I would buy the wireless controller also. I'm just to damn lazy to crawl under my truck every time I want to adjust the shocks. Has any one had any experience with the RS9000XL shocks and the contoller? I'm curious what anyone thinks about them. How easy is the of install of the compressor and how well do they work. Second question is should I wait till I put the leveling kit in the front? I don't plan on going very high with the truck. Just torsion bar keys up front and stock in the rear. Any help would be appreciated.

i think rancho makes a quiklift as well that works with a controller, so you can raise your truck 2" and drop it 1". (in the front)

ranchos are pretty good shocks and will probably be cheaper of the two

^^^ The rancho quick lift system is only for Coilover systems found on the new GMT900s

Ron,

I would just crank the torsion bars you already have and buy longer rancho shocks. You don't need a "Level" kit on trucks like ours.

Or if the stock keys don't lift enough for your tastes throw in a set of 1997 & Up F150 Keys and longer shocks.

If you off-road I would not recommend getting the remote system because water, sand, and mud gets into the lines and you then have to clean them out which can be a real pain.

Not to knock the two brands you mentioned. but I would suggest you take a close look at KYB MonoMax shocks. If you are not running off road any, you may want to look at their Gas a just series. It is a smaller shock than the MonoMax but still a really premium ride control product.

Thanks for the advice it appreciated. How ever I do use my truck off-road. That's why I narrowed it to the to brands listed above.
