Carfax is dirt cheap.

On a 91 model vehicle it won't be much help. As old as that is, at least half of the vehicle data will be older than the carfax data goes back to. Reports from before 2000 are very sketchy and scattered. On a Jeep, a good inspection should reveal all you need to know. I'd have a Jeep shop do a prepurchase inspection. Worth every penny whether you buy it or not. Jeeps can be giant sinkholes for money.

Yeah, and I'm a cheap b@$#^$%d!

:dunno:

I have been into jeeps for a while, so I know my way around a YJ, but a FREE carfax is always nice. Also, this jeep is 2 hours away, so its just one more check before I take the drive...

LOL! Nothing wrong with that. I just meant that Carfax isn't too effective on older models.

I've love my Jeeps. It just pays to check them out.

You can say that! I bought one years ago in Texas and had it shipped back to WI. Test drive was fine. Within a year had to replace the top, transmission, carborator, radiator, and finally the engine! It was a great vehicle, when it was not in the shop.

Here is a pic of it with another old toy (photo was pre-digital camara so they are scanned in):
