Transfer Case Fluid - Amsoil

What's everyones consensus on going to AMSOIL ATF for the transfer case w/ 149K?

I'm the 3rd owner, the 2nd owner bought it w/ 27K I believe, and rarely, if at all used 4x4. I drained the

transfer case tonight, and the fluid did not look very used at all.

What vehicle?

 

I've always been told to stick with Autotrac II if it is specified. My AWD t-case runs on Dexron so I may try Amsoil at my next change as I'm a big fan of synthetics and insurance.

 

Also, the t-case gets used all the time 2wd and 4wd. It's just a matter of whether or not the front driveshaft is being driven or not.

It's a 97 chevy K1500 - manual calls for Dexron / ATF. Didn't GM switch to the Autotrac stuff in 99 for some change in the T-case?
