TCC Slippage

I've read on another board that TCC slippage (Partial lock) is normal and used to improve performance and driveability.

If this is correct, how much slippage is normal?  Seems to me that this would create a lot of unnecessary heat, and wear on the clutch lining and contaminate the fluid with clutch particles.

Apparently some part of the system will cause the TC to pulse lockup on and off during transition from off to on.

I just upgraded my TC & installed a transgo kit.  Among other things, my trans guy turned off the gradual TC lockup so it is all on or all off.  I am having this set back today.  I don't know how it affects performance, but it affects comfort.  When I want to slightly accelerate, it feels like it shifts down a gear when the TC abruptly kicks out of lockup.  It's more sensitive than I prefer for in-town.
