Which Wheel

Recommended Posts

I've got a set of the 1089s (polished) on order, but I'm thinking about changing to the 7089s(black). I'm going with a 17x8 wrapped in 285 70 17 BFG AT. Which wheel do you all think would look better on my truck? Anyone have input on polished wheels? I would think they are hard to keep clean?

Top one 10000%

Black wheels only look good on black trucks. On a beige truck, they look like somebody stole your hubcaps.

Polished wheels aren't hard to keep - IF - you stay on top of them. You'll want to use Mother's wheel polish on them 3 or 4 times a year. If you let them go for a year, they will be a bitch to get back looking good.

I'd choose the polished ones, too. I just ordered black wheels for my Yukon, but only because I'm going to use them for winter rims.

I'd go with the first ones... One thing to note : To me, the picture of the first ones look like they're chromed, not polished. I almost bought some polished wheels mail-order a while back, but found out the pictures online were all of the chrome version, not of the polished version. I had them send me a picture of what I was actually talking about buying and they were much less impressive.

So, you might want to double-check that what you're buying is what you're seeing pictures of...

Best of luck! Post pics when you get 'em!

The ol' chrome versus black debate...

I say go for the first ones. But then I like chrome and think they would look better on your truck.

Black doesn't just look good on black trucks. I have a Hummer H2 with factory chrome wheels. IMHO they look awful, just way too flashy.

It's all personal opinion, really.

On my Denali, the factory wheels (18's) are polished and clear coated. They look OK, simply because the GMC folks splashed chrome all over the truck. Less chrome and they might not look as good.

Personally, I don't like chrome or flash, but again, it's all personal choice.

My crawler truck has semi-gloss black wheels which are functional, and in my opinion are OK looking.

On a beige truck, perhaps the polished look would be more refined

again, only in my opinion...

So, here's my crawler with earlier polished wheels, and later painted (same) wheels

You make the choice!
