Can anyone advise me regarding the location of the block coolant drain plugs on my 2003 Silverado 5.3L. I see two small hex heads that are countersunk into the block just above the pan rail. One is behind the starter, the driver's side is relatively accessable. Any advise. I have found the radiator drain.

I think they did away with the block drains. My 6.0 has plugs like you describe, and I was told not to remove them. Mark.

Hi, Thanks for your reply. Were you told what these hex heads are and if they are block drains, why not remove them. I cannot undertand how one is expected to change collant if you cannot remove the garbage coolant from the block. Any ideas?
