Airtex Fuel Pump Help

Please help me before I throw my time and money away. I have a 2000 S10, I bought new, with the 4.3. I replaced the original fuel pump about 5 years ago because it was getting very noisey. The normal buzzing was louder and uneven sounding. I replaced it with an Airtex. The Airtex was very loud (dissapointed) right from the start. It lasted till now, but now I have a hard start cond. The pump is barely making any sound or pressure, about 25 - 30 lbs. All wiring and filters are ok, and I changed the injector assy. about a year ago to correct a no start cond. back then, so I figure the Airtex pump is on its way out. My son drives the truck and he constantly ran it low on gas, so I think that helped quit the pump.

I see posts saying not to use Airtex pumps. What should I put in? A Delco-Delphi or have you had luck with the Airtex? I will change the whole unit not just the pump motor. This time I pulled the pickup box off... last time I dropped the tank from underneath in my driveway and swore I would never do this job again. I am not crazy about doing it, but pulling the bed back has been a whole lot easier in case you are reading this and have to do this same job.

Thanks for any input on using another Airtex or not. Also, if you could, what is the going price for an Airtex, or a Delphi pump. I generally get all my parts at a local parts house using the name of the company I work for and tell them it is for the garage so I don't pay top dollar Joe citizen price, but I'd like to know what they are currently going for so I'll know if I am getting a good price.

Thanks allot!
