more stupid problems with this thing

so i got the engine thing figured out.  just another $280 module. :sarcasm: (hey, once a year ain't bad, right?)

so now i'm wondering why it is i top off my water resivoir and drive it for a day or two and it blows it out the overflow.  then it will give me a low coolant light. ??  the engine isn't running too hot, it's not even getting to 210* in the hot vegas summer but it keeps blowing water out the overflow and setting off the light.  is this just the trucks way of asking me to put it out of it's (and my) misery?

while i'm at it, does anybody happen to know what the boost setting is for the 6.5t?

It's just a shot in the dark, but I'd try a new radiator cap first.  If it's blowing out because of cumbustion pressure leaking into the cooling system that probably means a cracked prechamber (think rebuilt heads)...in which case you're going to hate me for encouraging you to stick with the 6.5L :blush:

 

Test kits exist for detecting combustion gasses in the coolant, or pressure testing the cooling system with the engine off will usually reveal the problem.

yeah, i know that i should have already tried the cap.  that is an easy one.  your right that i don't want to hear about a cracked whatever-it-is.  why would that thing crack?  if that does turn out to be the problem, it would be the brick that broke the camels back.  but i'm not going to jump ahead just yet.  for whatever reason, i think it's just getting hot because it will blow alot of water out just after i shut it down (that is, after i have filled it).  it's not really doing it while it's running.  the thing is, the truck never overheats.  at least not according to the gauge.  i've never seen it get to 220*, and the only time it got close was when i was towing my car over the mountains back at the end of may.

I concur with the Kid.  Cap first, then pressure test the system.  Cost should be less than $50 unless you have head/water jacket damage.
