H2 Rims On My '90 Sierra 2500. Will It Work?

Hi everyone... I have the chance to buy some 17" H2 Hummer rims with the 8 x 6.5 bolt pattern that my 1990 Sierra 2500 has. The problem is that my stock rims/tires are 16" and have 245 75 R16's and the H2's are 315 70 R17's. I'm not sure what problems I might encounter, but the fellow selling them said I might need a body lift kit of 2-3" and that a lift like that will cost less that $200 for the kit... can anyone out there make any suggestions, recommendations, or may have even tried something like this before? Thanks.

Your 245s are roughly 30.5 in. in diameter. The 315s are roughtly 34.5 in. in diameter. 4 inch larger diameter could result in the tires rubbing. A lift would help, as would a torsion bar crank. Or bring out the sawzall!!!

Yikes! I don't like the sound of the sawsall... lol.

Thanks for what you do say. I'm just not sure what to expect. It looks like very little trouble in the back... although I'm not sure of the offset... but the front looks like it could be nasty. I hope that someone out there may have tried this before and might have the insight I need.

Well, so far it sounds like it might work. Both of you say just torsion bars need cranked. I appreciate the recommendations. I'll keep my eyes on this thread though, in case someone else has tried this and knows for sure. Again, my thanks!
