New To Lifting Trucks...

I'm curious as to whether or not you guys could steer me in the right direction.

I have a lifted Jeep wrangler, but I have no experience with a lifted pickup truck.

When lifting a Pickup Truck (Suspension lift), are there any issues involved? In jeeps, at certain heights, you need to swap out the drive shaft to make up for the increased angles.

Also, the dynamics of the jeep are slightly off too: For example, many people start seeing "Death Wobbles" (steering wheel violently shakes), the ride often becomes much harsher/louder.

Now, does lifting a pickup truck come with any of these problems too? I've noticed that lift kits for trucks are significantly more expensive. I'm sure that's due to some trucks having IFS, but still. What kind of change in ride quality is there?

The reasons I ask are to be more familiar with what goes into lifting pickup trucks. Also, while I love my Jeep, I see myself upgrading to a pickup truck within the next few years (2-3... I know, it's a long way off, but I'm still curious now!), and GM has always been at the top of my list, but I'd need to buy one so I can be as tall as the competition!

No, the Death wobble is not present in gm lifted trucks...if you are going to be buying one of the new truck then no, you dont have to replace the drive shaft with a simple 6" lift. What size tires are you wanting?? You can run 35's on the current trucks. The ride quality gets better in some lift kits, and harsher in others, you just have to look around at that.

My advice would be to go on a well know lift company's website (BDS, Fabtec, ProComp, Cognito, etc) and read some install directions for your type of truck. Tons of information available.

Also, we need pics of this Jeep!!!

It's nothing much... Just a 2.5" Budget boost... I don't have many pictures of it either, but here's one to start you off with:

What are the details on your truck (year, cab/bed config, motor, 2wd/4wd etc.)?

I don't own one right now. I was just curious how much work was needed to put one in, and how vastly (if at all) different the truck would drive (My Jeep is a whole new vehicle after it's lift.... not as on-road friendly)

As for HD trucks, can you add a moderate lift, while still having the towing capabilities???
