Replace Muffler With Cat Back System

Has anyone out there removed the muffler and tail pile from an 2007 Avalanche or similar vehicle without having to cut the pipe after the muffler? I've got coil springs on the rear with the auto leveling shocks. If so, what's involved? I plan to put on a Gibson dual exhaust system.

Hi there and welcome to GM Trucks!

I think that there are a couple of people on here who have gotten their stock exhausts off without cutting them. One thing I read that is supposed to help is to take the weight off the back wheels to give more room between the axle and frame.

I have heard it done on the Sierra/Silverado, but not on the Avalanche. If you have tried it and don't see it working then you might just have to cut it.

Do you know if the vehicles had leaf or coil springs? I see you plan on a new one. I'm moving up from a fully optioned 97 Silverado that is for sale on Auto Trader. It has 68,000 miles and is offered for 8,800.

Thanks for your reply.
