Voltage Drop At 4000rpm

My 1998 chevy 5.7 z71 has been running great for 200000 kms and now is giving me some trouble. First when engine rpm reaches 4000rpm(loaded or unloaded) the lights dim and the voltage gauge drops to 12 volts. It never did this before. Also getting engine codes for cylinder misfires? are these related?
