just looking at the news and on different websites suggesting gm going under, any truth behind any of this or is there going to be some sort of bailout like what was offered to the banks during the $700billion bailout? seeing what people have heard and what is truth.

I do not think the gov't would let them go under. Seems like the trend is to offer low interest loans to get them over the hump. Remember what the gov't did for Chrysler 20 years ago. I cannot imagine the ripple effect if GM were to go out. You would see some huge Tier 1 suppliers go next, then Tier 2, etc. We think it is bad now, it would only get worse. The dealers are getting killed too, as noted in another thread.

Oh my gawd, the world is ending! :withstupid: GM is going to die, and all of our trucks are going to disappear with it! Oh NO!

Honestly, I don't think GM is going anywhere anytime soon. They certainly aren't prospering at the moment, but they ain't goin byebye just yet.

HOLY CRAP! :D

I think I just witnessed an off-topic thread being veered on-topic. Cue the 'twilight zone' music.

Although by saying this, I put it back on off-topic. Or is that off on-topic. :withstupid:

I don't think GM is going under. We may pay for it, but if the .gov won't let some thieving banks go under, they won't let a huge part of America's past go under. :dunno:

GM isn't going anywhere anytime soon. Now Chrysler on the other hand..... CNBC Article

Looks like before long, 1/3 of the sales in the US will be GM!!

Also, if GM does get the Gov't money to buy Chrysler, Hemi's might be no more...

"Analysts say GM would also almost surely opt to shut down Chrysler's separate supply of engines, transmissions and powertrain components and merge those with its own.

qouted article

I think by the end of this week, we might be talking about Detroit's Big 2 instead of Big 3. :withstupid::dunno:

I think you guys are talking about these fender flares: link?

Yep, same as always. I hate the way Bushwackers fit. That edge trim sucks! Why can't they make a flange that seals against the fender with double-sided tape, like the OEM flares on the GMT800's?

I had Bushwackers on my 2000 and I will never buy this type again.
