Superlift 6" Install

Recommended Posts

Just finished installing the Superlift GMT900 6" suspension lift. The total job excluding alignment took 5 days of approximately 6 hours each. The quality of the components is excellent, as are the instructions, and the fitment of the various parts.

This is NOT an easy install, however. There is continual drilling, cutting, tapping, fitting, and unfortunately for me, running after missing hardware.

Although the Superlift kit is excellent, buying if online leaves the buyer at peril. I haven't contacted Superlift yet about all the missing parts, so I can't comment on how they would handle the situation. However if you have the kit and plan to bolt it on yourself, then you might get surprised several times by all the missing parts. I needed to drive out no less than four times just to hunt the various hardware pieces that were missing.

The missing parts included:

2ea 10mm X 140mm allen head bolts

2ea 5/8X 4 1/2" bolts, washers, and nuts

4 ea 10mm stover nuts

2ea 3/8 X 1 1/4" bolts and washers

Stock height was 36 7/8" front and 38 7/8" rear

Lifted height is 43 3/4 front and 44 1/4 rear

Net lift is 6 7/8" front, 6 3/4" rear

Here are before and after pics. Sorry for the poor quality, more to come when the tires get mounted

Secret part... A replacement double cardan driveshaft which makes this lift possible with AWD found on Denalis. I can duplicate this driveshaft if needed...

post-54219-1226264042_thumb.jpgRear lift is accomplished with a block and new longer U-Bolts

There is a bunch of stuff that needs to get relocated in the rear to make this lift possible, definately not a two hour job like I once thought!

I like the front end setup. Not a fan of big block lieft for the rear. I'd prefer new springs.

What kind of rubber is going on? How about some 38 inch gumbo mudders? WOO HOO!

Nice Job! What wheels and tires do you have planned???

Wheels and tires were my biggest single headache. I ordered 4 BFG AT's 18" X 33 trying to get to a 12.50 33. I also ordered KMC Dime127 wheels with the stainless polished wheel lip and black painted spokes. After a week I was told the Dimes were no longer available. So after almost a week of looking at dozens of wheels, I can say I really don't like any of them! I don't like the big wheel 20" chrome scene. Chrome won't get you home is a carry over from my hummer side, so no glitz, thank you very much. Then looking at black wheels, I noted that a black wheel just gets lost at any distance at all.

All I really wanted out of a wheel was more stability, as the lift goes up, the track should go outward a corresponding amount. Well, the axle spacers in this kit put the stock wheels right at the outer edge of the wheel well, so I guess, I got that. So for now, the stock wheels will get the larger tires and we'll see how that all sits...

I agree with you, but when I read that I had to drop the fuel tank to replace the springs, the blocks got the nod. If I get any axle wrap, then I'll get new springs!
