Putting Toyota On The Spot

I had to run some errands this morning and passed this toyota dealer that had this tractor type pull contest going on in the back of the dealership. They had their turdra truck, and an F150 hooked up to these really long logs that were on a sled ski and had a pulling contest out in the feild behind dealer. They were demonstrating how "powerful ? " their turdra is in pulling these logs across the feild.

So on my way back from running the errands I stopped at the dealership and asked if I could hook up to the log sled and they asked what kind truck do I have and told them and they said "Oh no, No way!" I asked why and they said that they were only demonstrating the turdra against it's own class. So I said to the salesmen "Well the F150 they are using has a 4.6 liter engine and the turdra they were using had a 5.7, and I have a 6.0 not an 8.1 and in reality I am in the class". The guy then went to talk to his manager and the manager came over and said I couldn't do it because I have a bigger engine and it would be an unfair advantage. So I said, well why are you using a F 150 with a 4.6 engine and not a 5.4, thats an unfair advantage on the F150's behalf, I'm only bigger by 13 ci and even if they were going up against a 5.4 that is like a 330 ci, and the 4.6 I can't recall what the ci is on that but i know it is smaller.

So then he stepped away with his salesmen and was talking to him quietly for about a minute or so then comes back to me and says "All right, let me have your keys". My keys? I replied. He said yes, due to insurance regulations they have to drive my truck, I said Oh hell NO! I told him first off due to my insurance regulations, no body can operate my vehicle unless their name is on my policy as a licensed driver, and further more no body drives my truck except me. Then he said well we wont be able to do this. Then I said to the guy, he was BSing me with the insurance thing and that I know he was going to make my truck look bad in the pull and most likely would've engaged my parking brake during the pull. Then I started asking them questions as to why they are being so decieving and dishonest in their pull demonstration and they denied it on the spot.

Then I said well that F150 doesn't have the 5.4 engine, the 4.6 is not in your class. I said why don't you use a turdra with a smaller V8 so it's evenly matched? Then he says okay sir, I have to go, you have a nice day.

So he walked away then I started talking to other people that were there and told them what they were doing and they were like "WHAT?". So after about 20 minutes, I guess word got around to the toyota salesmen and they ask that I leave the premises, I asked them why do I have to leave? And he said I was stirring up controversity and that they are trying to sell turdras and I am not helping the situation by telling potential customers, then I interupted him and said "The truth?". So he smerked at me and said , sir if you could please leave now.

So I said to the salesman, why don't you get yourself a real job selling GM trucks, and this way you don't have to keep feeding your conscience with guilt everytime. And said that I guess I must be their worst nightmare because I own a real truck and then walked off.

Don't worry about it, they no their product isn't as good as American made trucks, thats why they have riged pulls and stuff like that. That and they think driving a Toyota will make up for their lack of ability in the bedroom. :rollin:

I posted the same topic over at another forum I post at, and check out this response i got.

**** Tell you what, Saturday when I was getting my truck finished and inspected after rust treating they had a Tundra on the wrack for a inspection and I got under it and looked it over. It is extremely well built and the chassis on it shames a GM truck and it is just a 1/2 ton. Judging by how they built it, a 3/4 ton would be even more massive. That 10.5 rear axle makes GM 1/2 ton rear axles look like lawn mower drive axles. Owner has put about 30K on it in a little over a year and said he loves it except for MPG as he averages "only" between 16.5 and 17 MG per tank in his long term records of it. He was hoping for a bit more. (this is not highway MPG but overall average)

BTW, I could not begin to sell a GM truck today. As they are made now they are a POS and I could not sell one to somebody and "stick" them with it. *****

What do you guys think? He is very pro toyota and really thinks GM makes junk to date.

This is the forum where the response came from.

Its just marketing, toyota isnt doing anything new.

Look at the youtube videos of ford showing "bed shake" they compare a gm z-71 and a tundra sr5 against the base (soft) suspension on the ford. Of course you will have a more compliant ride using soft suspension........

I do commend you for calling the dealership out though. :rollin:

You should have told him to look at the cheesy C-channel frame that is held together with rivets and bolts. :idiot:

OK. i just posted your response at the board.

****BTW,

When you were under the turdra while it was on the rack, did you get a good look at the cheesy C-channel frame that is held together with rivets and bolts?****

Thats a good one! :rollin:

That's awesome :idiot: Well not really "awesome" but funny. :D

I could see them not wanting a 6.0L on the course, but they really should have the 5.4L Ford out there. I'm sure they make sure to tell everyone that the Toyoyoyo has almost 1L of engine over the Ford. :rollin:

I've seen all the videos, and the one with the bed shake. With the bed shake, you can literally see the bed coming into contact with the cab, ouch! What really got me was years back GM did a truck pull and dragged the turdra behind it, along with the F series, ect. Then Toyota started doing it, however would only have toyota sales people drive both trucks during the pull. It was so botched! They disgust me! The dishonesty form them is so messed up.

That other board I belong too, the guy who praises the turdra in the administrator and is overall a good person, but he is so upset about his GM truck rusting out from sitting all year long, because he only uses it to plow snow in the winter and evaporative moisture will take its toll on any vehicle that sits on a non paved surface for a long time, keeps insisiting that GM makes crappy vehicles and that the turdra is so great, blah blah blah, just goes on and on and on. I told him to register over here and express his opinions so that all you good GM owners would see, but he declined. Well you guys are more then welcomed to come over and register at his forum and express your opinions, we also go back and forth on politics too! I am the moderator over there, and we do not enforce strict rules. Overall he has a pretty good forum, alot of inforamative stuff. Feel free to join.

In the end it donsn't matter. Our trucks are the reason any Toyota trucks are around. If Gm and Ford hadn't started the game no one else would have got into the truck market.

True, true!

Toyota was the one that started in on the Fords, then went to GM trucks, but I find it absolutely hilarious of how the turdra's engines were seizing after they were driven off the lot. Oh and also we had this conversation awhile back about the power of the turdra and he is always telling me how much more powerful the turdra is over my truck, even after telling him how many times I taken turdras at lights and even prevented one from passing me while going up hill and pulling my trailer loaded with my equipment, that was funny!

After watching a live tear-down between a Ford, Chevy, and Tundra pickups - all F150's - I feel VERY confident in saying that a Tundra is a POS in the truck market - they claim to be 'changing the game' when in reality they need to learn what game they're playing. Their 10.5" rearend is the EXACT same size as most GM 10.5" gears, as well as Ford rearends. The brake rotors they show as their 'competition' on their commercials are actually about the size of the rear brakes on my old Grand Prix - rotors on a Chevy or Ford are CONSIDERABLY larger all the way around. Suspension components are SIGNIFICANTLY lighter-duty on the Tundra than either of its competitors.

I could go on and on, but let's suffice to say that Toyota, as the newcomer to the truck market, has a LONG way to go before they can claim to be the 'king of trucks.' For now, Ford and GM will continue to beat each other for that title.

BTW, kudos for calling out that dealership. If that'd been my old man with either of his trucks, he would have had them put the Toyo in park, set the brakes, hook it up to the logs...and proceeded to yank ALL of it out.

Hell, I'll go back to the dealership with a duramax and pull the entire peice of land if I could hook up into it. I'd pull it to a junk yard and dispose of the garbage. But I would first have to round up all the brain washed toyota salesmen and drop them off at a GM rehab, so that they can reprogram their brain back to normal.

If GM is the only company that makes a vehicle that rusts then how does he explain this?

Tacoma Frame Rusting
