Tire Clearance

I recently bought my grandfathers 95 gmc k1500 reg cab short bed.

And I was wondering what are the biggest tires i can put on the truck, without a lift.

And if someone could direct me to a site with a good selection of aftermarket parts for this truck.

grills/wheels/tires/bumpers etc.

285/75r16 on stock rims or 32x11.5r15 on 15 x 8 in rims. With 15 in rims, your tires will be cheaper by $40.+ per tire. Performance parts, Stylin trucks, LMC Truck, 4 wheel parts, are a few, for parts.

stick with the 32s on the 15" rim and you will be fine. If any issues, crank up the torsion bars a smidgen...just enough. You shouldnt have to at all though. Why dont you buy a 3" body lift and grab some 35's?? I had a 3" body on an 88 silverado and i managed 35's. I had to grind the corner of the front bumper a tiny bit for turning sharp on bumpy roads.

Hah, well, these are free.

Im picking em up tomorrow from one of my buddys.

I actually like the "wide" look from the tires, hopefully i could get em to fit.

Plus, i really dont have any money to spend, in the middle of lookin for a job.

And i need to save 600 bucks for fire1.

Just about the only thing that gets in the way of the bigger tires is the lower corner of the bumper and the lower plastic valance/air dam. While you are swapping out the fronts, both at the same time, put some jack stands under the control arms and cycle the steering wheel after you get the tires/wheels on, that way you lessen the chance of destroying something while you are out on your first test drive...

Tires fit fine. a little plastic trimming is all it needed.

The dilema now is, i need all new lugs. the stock lugs were way too short, and the aluminum on

the wheels are thick. So i need some long lugs.

Dont worry, i got some crappy cell pics.

Worked on it in the firehouse :uhoh:.

Went to the parts store. they hardly had enough lugs, threw four on each wheel. stillll not long enough.

I checked em when i got home, all the lugs on the front drivers side were loose.

My buddys gonna come over tomorrow morning and help me out, we gotta pick up new lugs.

WOW. Lots of offset there. Better be concerned about wheel bearings biting it. Really should be on the lookout for some more positive offset wheels. Do they rub when turning?
