Extended Warrenty

I really like my Blazer, despite the recent trouble I've had with it.  I'm thinking about buying an extended warrenty for it (the crappy one it has now expires in a few months, got that free from the selling dealership).  I have seen one that looks like I might get, www.warrantywizard.com  Anyone know anything about this company?  I have a quote for a 3year/36000 miles for a little over a grand on my Blazer.  This sounds really good, includes almost everything.  I also got a quote from www.1sourceautowarranty.com they want 2 grand for the same thing.  If anyone has any advice for me or a company that they recommend that would be great!

Thanks!

I recently talked to www.warrantydirect about getting one for a new and used vechicle and it sounds good.  They said that a lot of the extended warranties that dealerships sell are actually their warranties that they will sell to the dealerships then the dealer can charge more and make money.  It's always cheaper to buy from the source.  I plan on getting a 7 year 100k mile one for my Av for 1500 $0 deductible.

My only words of advice....read the fine print ...do your homework ...and you get what you pay for...

I work in the service end of a dealership.  I swear by extended service contracts...the good ones.

I have seen them cover thousand dollar repairs that would make me cringe if I had to fork over that kind of money to repair my own vehicle.

Here are some little things to look for...

Will they authorize use of factory parts, or will they only pay for aftermarket parts?

How long has the company been around, or will they be around in 3 years when your contract is still valid?

Will they use used parts (this happens more than you think).

Will they pay the dealership by credit card?  Some dealerships will not accept contracts unless they have an account with that company or they pay by credit card.

The last thing is to buy the highest level of contract that is possible.  Don't just settle for powertrain coverage.  This is the least amount of coverage, but will usually by for the big ticket items (i.e. transmission, engine).  However, its typically the high-tech electrical components that will fail, and cost more money in the long run (i.e. fuel injectors, ecu, window motors).

I hope this helps.

I just got one for my truck.  Its from Penn Warranty Corp. #1-800-356-9441 you might be able to get one from them.  It only cost me $540 for a 3yr. 45000 mile warranty plus they send you a extension option if you pay like $150 more youll get unlimited miles and 6 more months added on.  Dont know how good they are because I havent had to use them yet.

Silveradoman52 try this http://www.warrantydirect.com/index.asp?^

It was going to be around 1500 for 7y 100,000miles, which is longer and  cheaper than chevrolet's extended warranty.

It is full coverage and repair work doesn't have to be done at a chevy dealership.  They have been in business for over 20 years and also sell the warranties to dealerships which "they" will then mark up just like they're truck prices.
