Audio Problem

Recommended Posts

Posted

Purchased and installed Pioneer on-dash Nav system. Purchased the optional Pioneer amp to utilize the Bluetooth, Ipod, and sound through speakers options. Nav system hard wired in and everything works great including on-star going down road. My only problem is that I have lost chimes along with radio sound in retained power mode. The radio stays on but no sound. Logic tells me the amp powers down when the key is turned off thus killing the speakers? This explains why no sound through the speakers. Is there a way to wire amp so that it retains power and allows these other features to operate. Thanks for any suggestions.

Sorry, I misread "on-dash" as "in-dash". The workaround is to get a relay that will trigger from the radio power lead (it's less then 12v but I can't remember if it's 9 or 7v)...let the radio power lead trigger the relay to feed 12v to the amp turn on circuit.
